Chapters 25-28 Summary

At the beginning of Chapter 25, Victoria invites Max to see a special screening at the silent movie theater. He declines, however, because he promised to spend time with Nelly. Victoria continues to ask him and when Max finally says that he and Nelly are more than just friends, Victoria feels hurt and led on but tries to hide it. She tells Max that Nelly doesn't appreciate him and that she thought he liked people like her. Max says that he does like Victoria but that she has made herself unapproachable. When Max tries to talk to Victoria in class, he tries to tell her that he didn't mean to lead her on. Victoria tells him that he's just another shallow person after all and she pours coffee on his sketchbook, telling him that his graphic novel will likely be stupid. When...
