Summary

In “Two-Step,” Naomi is a hospital doctor in Montana. She is friends with Alice, who is married to one of Naomi’s fellow doctors. Alice’s husband has been emotionally distant, and Alice fears that he is having an affair. Alice has recently become pregnant. Naomi is married as well, and she is secretly the one with whom Alice’s husband is having an affair. Naomi had recently told her husband that she was leaving him for Alice’s husband, and Naomi was under the impression that Alice’s husband would soon be telling the same thing to Alice. Alice says that her husband was unfaithful to his first wife. Alice also says that she thinks his affair is with a nurse named Mandy. Naomi suddenly wonders if Alice’s husband is having an affair with Mandy as well as with Naomi...
