Chapters 21-28 Summary

Chapter 21. Each of the teenagers slips out of the truck stop one at a time and meet in the back. They discuss their next move and decide it would be best to travel on foot during the night rather than attempt to hitch another ride. The trio lies down in the woods to try to sleep. Sarah and Garrett talk about Sabrina and how his parents got Sabrina fired after learning about their relationship, causing him to become more determined to continue it. Garrett claims that their motivation for having Sabrina fired, but not going to the police, had more to do with his mother trying to protect herself from embarrassment than saving Garrett.
