Summary

Chapter 7 “Mirrortalk” Joe comes over to Kerewin’s house, although Kerewin doesn’t want any company. He asks Kerewin what she wants out of life. Her reply is that she wants to make up with her family again and to regain her ability to paint. Joe tells her what he wants most of all is a decent family life which would include Kerewin. At this point, Kerewin shows Joe her paintings and tries to tell Joe without her ability to paint, she has no feelings about anything or anyone. Joe asks if he can keep the self-portrait Kerewin had made years earlier and Kerewin agrees, with the understanding Joe does not ask her to be anything other than a friend. He goes to kiss her and she immediately backs away, which prompts Joe to ask her if she has ever been hurt by love. She...
