Chapter 37-41 Summary

In chapter 37, Anita meets with Marianne who tries to teach Anita that her self-consciousness around the shapeshifters is stopping her from using Raina's munin for good. Marianne encourages Anita to bond with Nathaniel who lies naked in bed waiting for the doctor to treat his wounds. Anita is uncomfortable, but makes the effort and bonds with Nathanial a bit. Anita's friend, a police officer from St. Louis, Dolph, calls and warns her that Frank Niley is a very dangerous man and encourages Anita to kill him before he can get to her. Anita is worried that her faith is not enough to fight against such demonic power.

In chapter 38 Cherry and Zane enter the room. Anita makes the effort not to run, actually touching the healing wound on Zane's shoulder. The four of them sit on the bed, talking and joking, and Nathaniel finally explains...
