Chapters 18 through 21 Summary

In Chapter Eighteen, Alex becomes sick with the flu. He dreams he's in a hailstorm but wakes to realize that someone is pelting his house with bullets. He hears a cry from outside and a thud, then a car starting before silence. He calls Milo but reaches Del who promises to get Milo and come right over. Alex goes outside and finds several cans of gas and Richard Moody, dead in the koi pond. The fish are nibbling at the wreckage of his face and Alex tries to wave them away but they return. Milo and Del arrive with sirens going and Milo takes Alex inside. There, they discuss who might have been responsible.
