Chapter 15 Summary

The characters arrive at the apartment of the doctor and the doctor's wife. They take off their shoes before entering and, once inside the door, they strip naked. The doctor's wife puts all of the shoes and filthy clothing into plastic bags. She then dresses all of the characters in clothing taken from her own closet. The doctor's wife then delivers a lengthy monologue on morality. The characters then eat and drink bottled water, which they find to be a novel luxury, and then go to sleep throughout the apartment. In the early morning, the doctor's wife wakes up to discover a downpour. She puts various buckets on the porch to catch rain and then strips naked and bathes in the rain. She washes the shoes and clothing in the plastic bags then.....
