Chapter 6 Summary

Dave is sick the next morning, telling Alafair he has malaria. Dave walks Alafair to school and then sits in front of the fire until Darlene shows up. Darlene puts Dave to bed and sticks around to make him lunch. Dave feels better after some sleep and food. Darlene tells Dave that Dio does not like him and does not want him around the compound again. Dave is not impressed with Dio's annoyance. Instead, Dave turns the conversation around to the murders Mapes and Vidrine committed. Dave tells Darlene that Dixie Lee thinks the victims might have been members of AIM and asks if she has any idea who the victims might be. Darlene tells Dave the little she knows about AIM and a story about a group of Blackfeet killed at the Marias River. Then Darlene suggests he go to the reservation...
