Summary

In Chapter 22, May spends much of her time swimming and thinking about why Galway would want to get close to her when he clearly has a wife or girlfriend at home. She also can't stop thinking about seeing Ev and John making love and longs to have that experience herself. One morning Ev leaves very early, saying that she is being forced to spend some time with Tilde in Canada. May decides to spend some time with Indo but when she arrives at her cottage, Birch is there and tells her that Indo has just gone in for a nap. He then invites May to have tea with him at Trillium where he tells her how glad they are that May is looking after Ev.

May is surprised to learn from Birch that there is no such thing as inspections of the cottages...
