Summary

In the final section, Crow carried the telegram delivered by Mr. Johnson back to her island. Crow was glad for the conversation they had and felt good that he had spoken to her as if she were anyone. The telegram said that Kendall had been captured pawning jewelry and that Osh, Maggie and Crow should come to the police station in New Bedford as soon as possible. Osh said they would put him away for hurting Mr. Sloan, but they should not say anything about Kendall robbing them. Crow wanted him to pay for taking her mother's jewelry, but Osh reminded her that she still had all the rest. Crow was upset that some rich woman would end up with that jewelry that was her mother's when that rich woman never once sent food or clothing over to Penikese Island to care for...
