Summary

This small section begins with a second person narrator telling readers that the geographical center of Kittur is the stucco building of the Angel Talkies. It lies halfway down Umbrella Street which is the heart of the commercial district. The narrator then goes on to explain that a large piece of Kittur's economy consist of the manufacturing of beedis and that the tallest building in town is the Engineer Beedi Building owned by Marbroor Engineer. Not far from that there is Kittur's famous ice cream shop called the Ideal Traders Ice Cream and Fresh Fruit Juice Parlor.
