Chapters 41-44 Summary

In Chapter forty-one, the defenders of Vo Mimbre that Beldin and the legions are in place. The gates of the city open and knights pour out and do terrible damage to Torak's forces. Brand challenges Torak personally once Torak has no escape. They fight, and Torak gashes Brand's left shoulder. When this happens, Brand drops the cloth he'd been holding over the shield with the orb in it. This sets Torak on fire. Brand strikes him through the eye with his sword and takes him down, nearly killing him.

In Chapter forty-two, the Mallorean forces fall apart after Torak's death. Zedar steals the Dragon God's body from the field. The cooperation the Western Kingdoms all shared during the war begins to erode almost instantly. Many of the kings come together to offer Brand the position of Overlord, but he rejects the...
