In her autobiography, Obama narrates her life from early childhood through her time as First Lady. She grew up on the South Side of Chicago. She attended Princeton University and Harvard Law School. Before her husband became president, she worked as a lawyer at a Chicago law firm, a vice-president at the University of Chicago Hospital, and the executive director of the Chicago chapter of Public Allies.
