Importance: While Ofunne is sitting for her examination, a group of armed men suddenly enter the exam hall. One of the men inappropriately gropes her breasts, assuring her that he will be her protector if she agrees to have sex with him. When Ofunne stands up for herself the man accuses her of cheating, and the professor writes her up for malpractice. In the aftermath of the experience, Ofunne asks herself the above question. She is convinced that she has had to face such injustices because of where she comes from and who she is.
