Opal spends a lot of her time that first summer in Naomi at the Herman W. Block Memorial Library. It's just a small house filled with books and staffed by one person: Miss Franny Block. The Library is named after her late father.
As Opal looks through the stacks of books to make her selections, she hears Miss Franny scream. She learns that Miss Franny saw Winn-Dixie outside the window to the library and thought he was a bear. Miss Franny tells Opal the story of how a bear came into.....
