Summary

Chapter 13. Dee Sees a Movie. April 1978. Seattle, Washington.

Dee goes by her birth name now, Debra Moore. Dee is a widow who works as a high school drama and Italian teacher. She has a fifteen year old son. Dee has dated since the death of her husband over eleven years ago, but they do not last, in part because of her son. Tonight, Dee is going out with the PE teacher at her school, Steve. Before leaving, Dee stops to check on Pat. When Pat hides something in the drawer of his nightstand, she grows suspicious and checks the drawer. She finds a pot pipe in it. Pat swears he has not smoked pot in weeks, but Dee takes the pipe anyway. As Dee prepares to leave, she realizes Pat gave up the pipe too easily. She returns and discovers he was really...
