Chapter 9. The Room. Recently. Universal City, California.

Claire begins to laugh almost hysterically after Shane finishes his pitch. She finds his story idea ridiculous. Deane, however, agrees to produce the film, ordering Claire to arrange a meeting with the studio on Monday and offering Shane ten thousand dollars to write the treatment.

Deane asks Pasquale if Dee Moray had her baby. Pasquale shows Deane a baby announcement with a personal note to Pasquale from Dee. Dee named her baby boy Pasquale. Claire walks Deane out, complaining about Shane’s film. Claire then asks Deane if the baby is his. Deane says if there is a child, it is the only child he will ever have.
