Point of View

This novel is written in the first person point of view. Ethan is the narrating character. The reader sees the entire story, except for one small scene, from Ethan’s point of view. Ethan tells his story as it unfolds, taking the reader along as he struggles to understand Lena’s sudden distance and he fights to save her.

The point of view of this novel allows for a close, intimate relationship between the reader and the main character. This point of view is restrictive in some ways. The narrating character is a young man who has only recently learned of the existence of the caster world, therefore the reader is learning about this world alongside Ethan.
