Point of View

The book is narrated from Batman's point of view, but he is not in any way an omniscient narrator. Frequently, events are depicted that Batman is not present for and knows nothing about. However, Batman may still offer narration on these events, even if it is only to identify certain locations or characters and explain their importance. These explanations are frequently repeated throughout the book, probably because it was originally released as thirteen comic books in monthly editions. Occasionally, these identifications carry slight variations from one to another as more information about a character is revealed. Batman's running internal monologue is one of the few constants in the book's point of view.
