Part 5 Summary

These entries take place during the Winter of 1965.

Jim's first basketball game of the season is memorable, not because of the outcome, but because mid-way through the game, his shorts rip and his rear-end is exposed to the entire gym. When he finally does discover the rip, it takes almost a full minute before the game can be stopped so that he can get himself new shorts.

Jim has two friends, Brian and John Browning, who live in an apartment in the neighborhood. Jim frequently spends time there and has even lived there occasionally when his parents have thrown him out. One weekend, Jim and Brian set out in search of some codeine for the afternoon. They go to their usual destination, but are denied because the owner says he has been hassled about.....
