Faith and Trust

Faith and trust, two concepts that are closely linked, are necessary for the hope that motivates the characters for a more positive life. Up until this point, America has been riddled with grief and despair. No group of people were unaffected by slavery nor the Civil War. The emotional state that the characters occupy include grief, low self-worth, and self-doubt, and this affects their attitudes toward their relationships with each other. To overcome this barrier is no simple task; it includes close examination of who they are and what they have lived through. But it doesn’t stop there because a relationship includes two parties. They needed to trust each other, put their faith in one another’s goodness, to create meaningful relationships.
