Severed Arm

The severed arm, found by Yancy, represents elements of the investigation. The arm is a clue in and of itself, but also serves as a reminder that other pieces need to be uncovered and understood for the investigation to come together and make sense.

Hurricane

The hurricane represents looming danger that cannot be controlled. When Yancy is at the mercy of Nick during their confrontation in the storm, Yancy ends up out of options. It is not until Neville, an outside force, intervenes that Yancy is able to escape.
