Summary

Chapter 21 -“Trade Secrets”:

Carreyrou and his small team (including the Journal’s editor, Mike Siconolfi) are confronted by a large team from Theranos, including David Boies, several other attorneys, and Daniel Young, its head scientist. The conversation begins with Theranos referencing Tyler Shultz and attempting to get the names of other sources, and with Carreyrou refusing to back down from the Journal’s journalistic principles. He then attempts to get answers to a long list of prearranged questions having to do with various procedures and types of equipment, but the Theranos delegation refuses to answer most of them, saying that to do so would give away trade secrets.
