Chapters 31-33 Summary

Myron and Esperanza drive to Matthew Squires' school and park across the street. Myron suggests trying to find him during the lunch break, but Esperanza says it would be better to pretend to be parents and tackle the campus now. Before they do, Myron asks Esperanza to interview Esme's doorman later, and Esme says the sheriff in Peru supports the story of Lloyd Rennart's suicide. The cliff, known as El Garganta del Diablo, is a popular location for suicides, and the bodies are impossible to recover. Myron asks her to get more information. He's curious about how Lloyd got his money, and about the car accident that killed Lloyd's wife.

As Myron and Esperanza are talking, the black man from the Court Manor Inn, Carl, accosts them. Carl recognizes Esperanza. He, too, used to be a professional wrestler. Carl has two thugs with him, and...
