Summary

Jianzhu returns to Yokoya and tells the household staff that his group was attacked by the daofei and Saiful and the others were killed. To Hei-Ran, Jianzhu calmly tells her that he received word from Te that Kyoshi was near Taihua, and Jianzhu thinks she could be heading to Ba Sing Se. However, Hei-Ran tells Jianzhu that a week prior, Hui began sending out messages and preparing something, likely to try and convince everyone that he, not Jianzhu, should train the Avatar. The reader learns that not only was Jianzhu responsible for installing Te as governor, but also had agreed to keep Xu alive and in that prison so that firebenders could study Xu’s ability to bend lightning.
