Summary

In “Introductions,” Chris says that he met Auggie when he was two days old and Auggie was three months old. Chris’ mother and Isabel, Auggie’s mother, became friends while they were still pregnant. Even though Auggie had to have surgeries to help him do the things that other kids did naturally, like eating and breathing, Chris did not realize how really different Auggie looked until a girl on the playground began crying hysterically when she saw Auggie’s face.

In “7:08 a.m.,” three years after Chris and his family moved, Chris was thinking about him. When his mother woke him up, Chris was grumpy and hateful. He called her by her first name because he knew she hated it. He asked what she was talking to Isabel about the night before. His mother told him that Daisy died.
