Maddie Hyde

Maddie is the young wife of Ellis Hyde. She had a brutal childhood, beginning with her mother's very public indiscretion. Maddie's mother, Vivian, left Maddie behind when she went away with a married man. The couple were eventually forced to return and the man was accepted back into their social circles, though Vivian was always a source of gossip. At home, Vivian clung to Maddie who spent hours trying to take care of her mother.
