Chapters 16-20 Summary

In chapter 16, Canon Pennyfather wakes in a strange room. After a while, a woman comes into the room and explains that she and her husband found him lying in the street and assumed he had been hit by a car. Afraid he had been drinking and calling the police would ruin his reputation, they decided against calling the police. They did, however, call a local man who was once a doctor to check his wounds and he diagnosed a concussion. In chapter 17, Father speaks with his boss, the Assistant Commissioner of Scotland Yard.
