Summary

In Chapter 4, Ask Again, Yes picks up with Peter and Kate just before 8th grade graduation. They have crushes on each other, but neither of them have acted on their feelings. Another boy expressed his interest in Kate and this made Peter jealous. One day they are hanging out on the boulders near their houses when Kate jumps and falls. She catches her chin, biting her tongue. Peter tries to help her, grabs her face and puts his finger in her mouth to see if any of her teeth are broken. Then his mother comes outside, sees the two children together, and gets upset. She demands that Peter come inside. Kate tries to protest, telling Anne Stanhope that Peter was only trying to help her. “You think you’re so smart,” Anne tells Kate (70) and the comment stings, sticking with Kate. Lena Gleeson...
