MacGowan - Chapter 55 Summary

In a drug store in Jefferson, Jody, who works the counter, tells MacGowan that a country girl, Dewey Dell, is looking for a doctor. MacGowan, who also works the counter, refuses to see her until Jody says she is good-looking. Once MacGowan sees her, he decides that he has to have her and pretends to be a doctor when he meets Dewey Dell. Again, she wants to talk in the back, so MacGowan brings her into the basement where the medicine is kept.

Once they are in the basement, Dewey Dell explains that she is pregnant and that she heard there is something she can buy to.....
