Armstid - Chapter 43 Summary

Anse is trying to figure out from whom to buy mules, but he is very choosy for a man with few choices. Armstid recommends Snopes, but Anse does not like the idea. However, he eventually relents and decides that Snopes is their best choice.

After supper, Jewel goes out to fetch Peabody, but comes back with Uncle Billy instead. Uncle Billy, a veterinarian, sets Cash's leg and puts a splint on it. Once again, the woozy Cash asks to see his tools.

It is hot the next morning and the buzzards are attracted to the scent of Addie's rotting body. Lula, Armstid's wife, says that it is an outrage to carry Addie's body around like that: stinking badly with buzzards circling it. Armstid talks to Jewel in the hope of getting him to.....
