Darl - Chapter 3 Summary

Darl, returning to the house to take a drink of water, sees his father and Vernon Tull sitting on the back porch together. When he sits and takes a drink, he notices that rain is on the way, and it is coming soon. While Darl sips his water, Darl's father asks where Jewel might be. Darl responds by telling him that Jewel is in the barn, hitching up the mules.

However, in the barn, Jewel is actually approaching his own horse to take it out for a ride. This wild, seemingly untamable horse rears and kicks at him, but Jewel ducks out of the way.....
