Chapter Twelve Summary

Keren, Talia, Skif and Elspeth decide to test how strong the bond is between Rolan and Talia. A maze is laid out on the forest floor, Talia is blindfolded, and Rolan is telling her where to walk. At the end of the test, Talia has successfully conquered the maze, to the astonishment and delight of her friends. The next test is to see how Rolan can see through her eyes, and the answers are one hundred percent correct. None of the other Heralds have a connection with their Companion that is this strong.

A few nights later, Talia decides to allow her mind to wander, to test how far her Gift of feeling emotion can go. She decides to follow the route in her mind that Ylsa is taking on her current assignment. She is pulled immediately into Ylsa's mind and...
