Chapter Six Summary

Over the next few days, Talia follows a schedule of classes and completes her orientation training. After Teren dismisses the others, he asks her to stay behind and reads her a note received from her Holding, sent in response to the Queen's message to Talia's family that she has been Chosen and is entering Herald training. The note is signed by her father and claims they have no daughter named Talia. Teren expects Talia to show more emotion, but Talia is accustomed to keeping her feelings to herself and leaves to go to her next class.

Trying to be strong in the face of this rejection from her family, Talia goes next to her History class, Geography, and then Mathematics. It is only when she is at her sewing duty she allows herself to shed silent tears.
