Chapter 21 Summary

At home, Margaret can tell her father is uncomfortable with her grandparents. At dinner, Barbara and her mother talk about people from Ohio. Mrs. Hutchins tells Barbara about visiting her brother and his wife and how they are trying to have children. Mrs. Hutchins says she always wanted many grandchildren, but Margaret is the only one. Mrs. Hutchins asks Margaret about Sunday school. Margaret says she does not go to Sunday school. Mrs. Hutchins, while playing with her cross necklace, tells Mr. Hutchins that Margaret does not go to Sunday school.

Barbara says she knows they are not religious. There is an argument as Mrs. Hutchins insists Margaret is Christian, and Barbara and Herb object. Margaret is upset they are talking about her like she is not there. Mrs. Hutchins tells Margaret they can.....
