Chapter 17 Summary

At the beginning of March, Margaret goes with Nancy, her family, and Moose to New York for a day. At a restaurant, Margaret and Nancy go to the bathroom, and Margaret hears Nancy groaning. Margaret asks what is wrong. Nancy tells her to get her mother, which Margaret does. Nancy is crying when they get to the bathroom. Mrs. Wheeler gives Margaret change, asks her to get a sanitary napkin from the dispenser, and explains Nancy has her period. Margaret asks if Nancy always reacts that way. Mrs. Wheeler says she is scared because it is her first time. Margaret is shocked that Nancy lied about having her period.

She gets the napkin and hands it to Mrs. Wheeler who is trying to calm Nancy down. Margaret realizes she would not have known about.....
