Margaret goes to the Methodist Christmas Eve services with Nancy. Margaret asks her if she will have to meet the pastor, but Nancy says no, which makes Margaret feel better. Margaret likes the service because there is no sermon, just music. After Margaret gets home at midnight, she tells God she is still confused about religion and asks for his help. She wishes she were born a certain religion. Sylvia moves to Florida because New York is lonely without Margaret. In January, the schoolgirls see the movie What Every Girl Should Know.
