Book 4, Chapter 3 Summary

Oliver takes Susan to their cabin near the mining camp, and warns her that he will be gone a lot and it may be a trying summer for her. She counters that she has book illustration projects to keep her busy. Soon after they arrive, Susan is introduced to Frank Sergeant, Oliver's assistant. She is impressed with his good looks and asks her husband if she can draw Frank. Oliver endorses Frank's character and tells Susan that it is fine with him if she wants to draw his comrade. She also meets Pricey, his British clerk.
