Chapter 14 Summary
In the morning, Michael delivers tea, bread and a note from Angela to Frank. In the note, Angela urges Frank to return to Laman's house, because Laman is no longer angry. Frank tells Michael that he will live with Pat Sheehan. Although Frank's decision makes Michael cry, Frank says that he cannot face his mother or Laman. Frank vows to buy Michael shoes when he starts to work. He also vows to buy a decent home to live in, food and other things that he considers luxuries.
Pat Sheehan tells Frank that he cannot feed him forever and that he will have to get his own food. Frank begins getting up early to go for long walks in the country, as his father, Malachy, did.
