Chapter 11 Summary
Frank starts a football team, which he names "The Red Hearts of Limerick". He breaks into Angela's trunk to obtain pieces of her red dress to make emblems for the team's shirts. While searching the trunk, Frank finds his parent's marriage license showing their marriage date as March 28, 1930. He notes that his birth date is in August of that year and thinks that he must be a miracle of some kind. After football practice, Frank's brother Malachy goes home for tea, but Frank seeks Mikey Molloy to ask him how he could have been born in so little time.
It is Mikey's sixteenth birthday and his father, Peter, is taking him out for his first legal pint. Frank is invited along for lemonade. Mikey explains that Frank is a bastard because he was conceived before his parents had married. After giving Frank a rough explanation of sexual intercourse...
