Points of View

The two primary points of view are from Grey and Set's eyes. The view changes appropriately to other characters as the story fleshes out. Occasionally, the point of view transforms abruptly for stylistic effect, like a cinema flash.

Grey's imagination takes the reader into an omniscient view, which includes her in a white dress. This lends a dreamy quality to the passages about Billy the Kid. This technique is used with Set as well, such as when he transforms fully into the bear at Devil's Tower.

A striking cinematography effect comes through as Perfecto rides up to Set and Grey. It is a long shot of a dark rider that comes closer and looks like a centaur. The rider dismounts, destroying the illusion, then remounts and rides closer. He is finally riding by on the horse, his eyes not visible beneath his hat brim.
