The Ancient Child Objects/Places
Imagination
Grey's imagination is where Billy the Kid lives, along with the characters surrounding him. This is also where a great deal of the story action takes place for Set, as he becomes the bear.
Bote, Oklahoma
Grey lives with Worchester near Bote, Oklahoma. She declares herself the mayor of Bote, although nobody lives there. Bote consists of a few abandoned sod houses.
San Francisco
Set lives in San Francisco during the first part of the story.
Lukachukai
Grey and Set go to Lukachuki to live with Grey's family. They get married here as well.
Tsoai
Tsoai is also known as Devil's Tower. It is a central place in the myth of the ancient child and is considered to be sacred ground for many Native Americans. Set fully becomes an adult Native American warrior her when he seeks and finds his vision.
Paris
Set shows his paintings in Paris. This is his last experience as a civilized man...
