Set receives a mysterious telegram about grandmother Kope'mah being near death, that he should come at once and to notify Cate. Set wonders how anyone on this side of his family knows about him. His mother died in childbirth and his father died seven years later. He also wonders about the direction to notify Cate, Set's father. How could he do so when his father is dead? Set does have a few clues from the telegram. It had been sent by Milo Mottledmare of Saddle Mountain, Oklahoma. He thinks about the strange telegram as he goes for a sandwich and talks to acquaintances at the restaurant. He finally decides to fly to Oklahoma to find out what this is all about.
