Book 3, Chapter 27 Summary
Clyde's immediate family in Denver reads the accounts and has doubts as to his innocence. However, his mother continues to pray for strength and for Clyde's cleansing of his sin of premarital sex with Roberta - for whom Roberta was also to blame. Samuel Griffiths, frustrated with himself for letting sentiment with regard to Clyde affect his business sense, declines to aid Clyde in any manner whatsoever. In an attempt to salvage any kind of social life for Gilbert, Bella and Myra, he decides to move the business and his family to Boston.
Clyde's mother regrets that she had not been able to go to Clyde and determines that she must now make that trip.
