Kay Redfield Jamison

Jamison is alinical psychologist and pioneer in the treatment of manic-depressive illness, as well as author of several popular books on the subject of mood disorders and psychiatric textbooks. She also has produced a special television series on artists and mood disorders. She is unusual in that she, herself, suffers from manic-depressive illness, and has successfully used that intimate knowledge of the disease to help others. She has helped them directly as patients and indirectly by writing and publishing numerous books and articles on mood disorders.

Her brother

Although Jamison doesn't give the actual names of her family members, professional associates or (with one exception) lovers, she writes that her older brother was her childhood pal and strong emotional and intellectual support in adulthood.
