Chapters 12 through 16 Summary

In Chapter Twelve, Mrs. Talbot insists they take food, medicine, and clothing in case they can't return to Mr. Hendricks's house immediately. Mr. Talbot, whose name is George, wants to go along but Mrs. Talbot says he's wanted and, if they are stopped, his presence would prompt immediate arrests. The Talbots have a fancy car and Mrs. Talbot decides it's too fancy. She has a plan to dent up the car and they do so. She says if the mobs of rebels stop them, they want it to look like they've stolen the car. If the Population Police stop them, they want it to look as if they were wealthy but have fallen into a difficult situation.
