Summary

Chapter 31 – “The Junkyard Plaintiff.” In June of 2015, the court decides against Buzz Kiskadden, saying that while it is clear Range was negligent, and its chemicals damaging, there was no way to be certain that the junkyard where Buzz made his home was not responsible for the bad water. An immediate appeal sides with the original ruling – except for one judge who finds a clear connection between the activities at Range and what happened to Buzz’s water. As a result of the ruling, Buzz becomes increasingly reclusive and increasingly depressed, no longer speaking to author Griswold (as she comments in first-person narration) and not even finding joy in his leukemia going into remission.
