Summary

Chapter 24 – Ignorant Motherfuckers. This chapter focuses on the struggles faced by Stacey, her family, and her allies as they try to both hold onto what they valued from their pre-fracking lives and build new ones. There are descriptions of Buzz Kiskadden’s cancer diagnosis, and of how Stacey’s farmhouse had been looted by thieves desperate for metal or anything else they could sell to make money; author Grisowold suggests that the looters were looking for ways to pay for drugs. There are descriptions of Harley’s ongoing depressions and illness, and of Paige’s ongoing inability to function well at school, as well as descriptions of legal depositions made by Harley and Paige in response to questions from Range Resources lawyers, and how the responses of those lawyers continued to make both children deeply upset.
