Summary

Later that same morning, Slater arrives at Marie’s house, but his personality has become suddenly intense. As he drives Marie to a secret Security Solutions International compound, he nonchalantly discusses how Helene died in an automobile accident almost immediately after their Las Vegas wedding. At the compound, he gives Marie a vial of poison and tells her she must use it to kill Sankara at the next political event, which will be at a National Park in the neighboring country of Ghana.

In Chapter 23, Marie has decided that she fully believes in Sankara’s cause as she arrives at the national park. When she sees Sankara at the resort-like hotel at the front of the national park, she immediately spills the beans about her entire mission.
