Sparrow

The Sparrow is Sam's security code name. When she arrives at events and guards need to announce her entrance to one another in anonymity, they use the word sparrow. Sam learns that the term Sparrow is indicative of a "spare" second child and is a common term in royalty protection. However the term sparrow goes beyond this definition and captures how Sam feels in relation to the rest of the royal family. Sam feels small in the face of her family, and sparrow is indicative of this. The other family members have code names of large and/or majestic birds: Eagle, Falcon, Swan, and Bluebird. The sparrow is common and diminutive in size, in tandem with Sam's opinion of herself.
